A handful of projects attempt the tricky topic of writing about scent. The difficulty is translating material that is nearly impossible to categorize unless you're using the language of a chemist, and avoiding analogy in the text. I wrote from a space about 5,000 ft above sea level, which smelled of pine and grasses growing atop a 35 million-year-old volcano.
