The Grid

The Texas electric grid failure in 2021 triggered the worst energy infrastructure collapse in the state's history, leading to water, food, and heat shortages. Estimates were that between 246 and 702 people were killed directly or indirectly as a result of the crisis. Major releases of pollutants due to stopping and starting fossil fuel infrastructure such as chemical plants and fuel refineries were reported.

After weeks of +100° heat that summer, I made an image of a truck through a VW window on Highway 90, under the one long line of extension cords holding things together. The grid.
