Dark Sky Reserve

Walking home in an International Dark Sky Reserve. There are just a few in the world. I have spent almost a decade in the largest, roughly 9 million acres spanning the U.S. and Mexico.

Reserves, like "sacrifice zones," are a tricky concept because they pull you into a walled-garden philosophy of care for the future. In other words, a world segmented into spaces where different rules apply.
